The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the schedule for the fourth edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–2027, with the tournament beginning on June 17, 2025. Team India’s fixtures for this cycle have also been confirmed, and the Men in Blue are set to play 18 Test matches during this period. The tournament will commence with the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh series, while India's WTC campaign will kick off on June 20, with a high-profile Test series against England. The first match of that series will be held at Leeds, setting the stage for a challenging campaign under the captaincy of Shubman Gill.

A total of 69 series and 71 matches will be played across the 2025–2027 WTC cycle. As per the format, the top two teams in the points table will qualify for the WTC final. Participating nations in this cycle include India, England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.

Team India’s WTC 2025–27 Schedule Breakdown:

  • 5 Tests vs England (Away)

  • 2 Tests vs West Indies (Home)

  • 2 Tests vs South Africa (Home)

  • 5 Tests vs Australia (Home)

  • 2 Tests vs Sri Lanka (Away)

  • 2 Tests vs New Zealand (Away)

Matches against Australia, South Africa, and West Indies will be hosted in India, while the contests against Sri Lanka and New Zealand will be played overseas.

Key Series Timeline:

  • India vs England: June 20 – August 4, 2025

  • India vs South Africa: October 2 – October 14, 2025

Having fallen short in the previous two WTC finals—losing to New Zealand in 2021 and Australia in 2023—Team India will be eager to make a strong comeback. However, with dominant sides like England and Australia in their path, qualifying for the final will be no easy feat. The upcoming cycle presents a crucial opportunity for India to clinch their first-ever World Test Championship title.
