Under-19 World Cup 2026 : Third consecutive win and Super-6 ticket assured! India continues its dominance by defeating New Zealand by 7 wickets

In the 24th match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, the Indian U-19 team defeated New Zealand U-19 by 7 wickets to enter the Super-6 stage. With this victory, India recorded their third consecutive successful match. The toss was delayed due to rain at the Queens Sports Club ground, and both teams had to play matches of 13 overs each.

Winning the toss, Indian captain Ayush Mhatre decided to bowl first, which proved to be very appropriate. Batting first, New Zealand lost all wickets and scored only 135 runs. Their innings started poorly, losing five wickets in 10 overs. Aryan Mann returned with 5, Hugo Bough 4, captain Tom Jones 2, Snehit Reddy 10, and Marco Williams 1 run.

Then Jacob Cotter and Jaskaran Sandhu built a partnership of 37 runs to stabilize the innings, but Jaskaran was dismissed for 18 runs. Cotter scored 23 runs, while Selvin Sanjayan went for 28, Flynn Moore for 1, and Mason Clark for 4 runs. Callum Samson remained unbeaten on 37 runs. The Indian bowlers performed brilliantly – Ambris took 4 wickets, Henil Patel took 3, and Khilan Patel, Mohammad Anan, and Kanishk Chauhan took 1 wicket each.

While chasing a small target, India's start also faltered when Aaron George was dismissed for 7 runs. But Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre forged a brilliant partnership of 76 runs. Suryavanshi scored 40 runs (2 fours, 3 sixes), while Mhatre delivered a match-winning performance with 53 runs (2 fours, 6 sixes). Then Vihaan Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi ensured victory with 17 and 13 runs respectively.

For New Zealand, Mason Clark, Jaskaran, and Selvin Sanjayan took 1 wicket each. This victory has boosted the confidence of the Indian U-19 team, and they have reached a strong position in the Super-6.
