10 terrorists killed in an encounter in Manipur's Chandel district, major action by security forces.

Even as tensions between India and Pakistan show signs of easing, security concerns persist along India’s northeastern borders. In a significant development, an encounter broke out near the India-Myanmar international border in the mountainous Chandel district of Manipur, resulting in the killing of 10 terrorists by Assam Rifles personnel.

According to official sources, seven terrorists were confirmed killed during the initial exchange of fire, while three others succumbed later. The identities of the militants who opened fire on security forces are yet to be ascertained.

Security forces launched a combing operation following intelligence inputs about militant activity in the border region. A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered at the site of the encounter, signaling a major blow to the insurgent group involved.

The operation was carried out in the rugged terrain near the porous Indo-Myanmar border, which has historically been exploited by insurgent groups for cross-border movement and safe haven. Authorities have intensified surveillance in the region, and further investigations are underway to identify the group and trace their affiliations.
