Uttarakhand Cloudburst : 100 people still missing in Uttarkashi flash floods
More than 400 citizens trapped in the flood that occurred near Dharali village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday have been safely rescued by rescue teams, and the search for approximately 100 more people is ongoing. The search is also underway for 1 officer and 8 soldiers who went missing from the military camp in Harshil. Modern equipment is being used to search for those trapped under massive piles of mud and stones. The work to reach the site is ongoing at a war footing. Information has been received that 225 people, including many rescue teams, engineers, medical staff, and experts, are participating. Many pilgrims going to Gangotri are trapped in various places, and helicopters and other mechanisms are deployed for their rescue. It is estimated that piles of mud and stones 50 to 60 feet high have formed in the Dharali area, and people are believed to be trapped underneath.
