Aditi Tatkare Statement On Ladki Bahin Yojana

After the distribution of April payments to beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin Yojana on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, thousands of women across Maharashtra are still awaiting their salary for the month of May. With June already underway, questions have been mounting about the delayed disbursement.

Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare addressed the issue today following a state cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. Speaking to the media, Tatkare reassured beneficiaries that the payment for May would be released soon.

“The audit conducted in January revealed that some government employees had wrongly availed the benefits of the Ladki Bahin Yojana. On reviewing a dataset of approximately 2 lakh names, it was found that around 2,500 were women employed in government service. Following this discovery, benefits under the scheme were stopped for these ineligible recipients,” Tatkare explained.

She further added, “Just like the April payment, the salary for May will soon be credited to the accounts of eligible women beneficiaries across the state.”

The Ladki Bahin Yojana, aimed at supporting women through monthly financial assistance, has become a crucial source of income for many. The delay in the May payment had sparked concern among recipients, but the minister's statement is expected to provide some relief.
