Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and President of the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), Ajit Pawar, is well known for his blunt yet often humorous speeches. Staying true to his style, he recently shared a light-hearted anecdote from his youth that left the audience in splits.

Pawar was speaking at a felicitation ceremony for successful UPSC and MPSC candidates organized by Sarathi Sanstha, held on the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. During his speech, he reminisced about a time in his life when marriage was on the horizon — but not before he had achieved one crucial goal.

"I had decided that I wouldn't get married without building a house," he said with a smile. “What would I do bringing my wife into a house made of paper?” he joked, drawing laughter from the audience.

Pawar then narrated how a certain 'Nimbalkar Saheb' played a vital role in making that dream a reality. "There was a major shortage of cement in the 1980s. Nimbalkar Saheb was the one in charge of issuing cement permits back then. I told him I was building a house in Katewadi and needed help. He generously gave me 1,000 bags of cement. That’s how I was finally able to build my house and then get married," he recounted, referring to his wife, Sunetra Pawar.

The anecdote, though humorous, subtly highlighted the challenges of the time and the importance of support systems — a fitting message at an event celebrating young aspirants preparing to serve the country.
