Applications from Three Organizations for Controlled Feeding of Pigeons
The dispute over the pigeon feeding area in Dadar is still ongoing. The Mumbai Municipality has received applications from three different organizations regarding controlled feeding of pigeons. These include the Dadar Pigeon Feeding Trust Board, Yasmin Bhansali and Company, and animal-bird rights activist Pallavi Patil.
Objections and suggestions from citizens have been invited on these three applications. The final deadline has been set for August 29, 2025. According to the information provided by the municipal corporation, these applications can be viewed on the municipal corporation's website. Interested citizens should submit their objections or suggestions via email or in written form at the F-South Division office in Parel.
According to the proposal presented by the Dadar Kabutarkhana Trust, they have shown readiness to feed the pigeons three times a day – from 7 to 9 in the morning, 12 to 1 in the afternoon, and 4 to 5 in the evening. The trust has also assured that the grains will be clean and dry, no excess food will remain, and the area will be cleaned and disinfected promptly. It is also mentioned in the application that fences and notice boards will be put up to stop unauthorized people from feeding. Previously, the Bombay High Court had maintained the ban on feeding pigeons.
