Audio Clip Unveils Chilling Murder Plot: Woman and Lover Arrested in Chandrapur
The accused, Ranjana Ramteke (50), and her lover Mukesh Trivedi were arrested by police after they confessed to murdering Ranjana’s husband, 65-year-old Shyam Ramteke, on August 6, 2022. At the time of his death, Ranjana claimed it was due to a heart attack, and the explanation was accepted by the family—including their two daughters, who live in Nagpur.
Following the father’s death, the younger daughter returned to Brahmapuri to stay with her mother, who now lived alone. Over time, she noticed unusual behavior from Ranjana, especially in relation to Mukesh Trivedi, who ran a vegetable and bangle shop near Ranjana’s general store in Ambedkar Chowk. The daughter observed that Mukesh was visiting the house frequently, and his interactions with her mother raised suspicions.
In an attempt to stay connected and monitor her mother’s activities, the daughter gave Ranjana her old smartphone. It was during this time that she stumbled upon a disturbing call recording. The 10-minute audio file, recorded in the early hours of August 6, revealed a detailed conversation between Ranjana and Mukesh plotting Shyam Ramteke’s murder.
According to the recording, Ranjana had laced her husband's food with gunpowder-based tablets. Later, while he was asleep, she tied his hands and feet and suffocated him with a pillow.
Shocked by the revelation, the daughter approached the police and lodged a complaint against her mother and Mukesh Trivedi. Both were detained and, after extensive interrogation, confessed to the crime. The duo was produced in court and has been remanded to police custody.
The chilling case has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents stunned by the betrayal and brutality involved. Police are continuing their investigation and are likely to file a detailed charge sheet soon.
