Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Fadnavis said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the initiative of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, this special Bharat Gaurav Yatra train has been launched. The train will take passengers to several key historical sites associated with the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This initiative will not only boost tourism but also revive the valiant legacy of Maharaj’s fight for freedom, particularly among the younger generation.”

A Journey Through History

The six-day itinerary includes several sites deeply connected to Shivaji Maharaj's life and Maratha history:

  • Day 1: Passengers will travel from Mumbai to Raigad Fort via Mangaon. Notably, the launch coincides with the Shivrajyabhishek (coronation day) celebrations being held at Raigad, enhancing the symbolic significance of the journey.

  • Day 2: The train will visit Lal Mahal in Pune, the Ganpati temple town, and ‘Shivsrushti’—a theme park dedicated to narrating Shivaji Maharaj’s life story.

  • Day 3: Travelers will explore Shivneri Fort, the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, along with the ancient Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga temple.

  • Day 4: The journey continues to Pratapgad Fort in Satara district, a site of historical battles fought by the Maratha warrior king.

  • Day 5: Pilgrims will visit the revered Ambabai Mahalaxmi Temple and the historic Panhala Fort in Kolhapur.

  • Day 6: The train will return to Mumbai, concluding the spiritual and historical expedition.

Cultural and Spiritual Significance

Beyond sightseeing, the Bharat Gaurav Yatra is designed to be a spiritually enriching, culturally immersive, and patriotically inspiring experience. “This Yatra is a tribute to the sacred land walked by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” said Fadnavis, emphasizing the emotional and cultural depth of the journey.

Impressive Participation and Arrangements

The Indian Railways and IRCTC have ensured seamless arrangements for the passengers, including quality accommodation, meals, transportation, and security. The Yatra has witnessed enthusiastic participation from people across Maharashtra, especially youth, women, and senior citizens.

Chief Minister Fadnavis extended his best wishes to all participants, stating, “This initiative will serve as a milestone in fostering cultural pride and historical awareness in Maharashtra and across the nation.”
