The investigation into the death of Vaishnavi Hagawane has taken a significant turn with the arrest of Nilesh Chavan. The case has generated widespread attention across Maharashtra, particularly after it was revealed that Chavan was traced with the help of his girlfriend’s mobile phone.

According to reports, Nilesh Chavan had been on the run after fleeing Pune. During this time, he was accompanied by his girlfriend, whose phone he frequently used. The first breakthrough in the manhunt came when police tracked activity on her device.

It was discovered that Chavan had contacted one of his acquaintances using his girlfriend's number. This led the Pimpri-Chinchwad police to identify and trace her. Upon her return to Pune from Delhi—where she had been with Chavan—she was questioned by police. However, as investigators found no evidence linking her directly to the case, she was released after preliminary interrogation.

Crucially, she provided investigators with information about a private bus that had traveled from Delhi to Gorakhpur. Chavan had reportedly boarded this bus while his girlfriend returned to Pune. CCTV footage confirming this travel detail also came to light, marking a critical lead in the investigation.

This evidence enabled the police to track Chavan’s route and uncover a potential Nepal connection, deepening the scope of the case.

The Vaishnavi Hagawane case continues to unfold, with further developments expected as the investigation progresses.
