Chandrashekhar Bawankule Urges Farmers to Submit Demands on Purandar Airport Within Seven Days
Senior BJP leader and Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule has called on farmers opposing the Purandar Airport project to formally submit their demands to the government within the next seven days.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to Pune, Bawankule said, “The government is open to dialogue. Farmers must present their demands or concerns in writing within a week so that a constructive discussion can take place.”
The proposed Purandar International Airport, aimed at easing air traffic from Pune, has faced stiff resistance from local farmers over issues related to land acquisition and compensation. Many claim the project threatens their livelihoods and agricultural land.
Bawankule emphasized that the government is committed to addressing the concerns of the farming community but added that a formal proposal or list of demands is essential to move forward. “We cannot proceed without clarity. The government is ready to listen, but there has to be structured communication from the farmers’ side,” he stated.
The statement comes amid renewed protests in the Purandar region and growing calls from farmer groups for more transparency and fair compensation policies.
