The Air India AI 2455 flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi was diverted to Chennai on Sunday night (10 August 2025) due to suspected technical issues and adverse weather conditions en route. The aircraft landed safely and was taken to the hangar for inspection. Among the passengers were Kerala MPs K. C. Venugopal, K. Radhakrishnan, Kodikkunnil Suresh, and Adoor Prakash.

According to Air India's statement, the pilot made a precautionary decision considering potential technical issues and weather after takeoff. During the first attempt to land at Chennai airport, Air Traffic Control instructed a 'go-around'. Consequently, the aircraft was taken up again and landed safely on the second attempt.

Regarding the incident, K. C. Venugopal wrote on social media that the journey started late and soon turned into a terrifying experience. After takeoff, the plane shook due to strong winds. An hour later, an announcement was made about a 'flight signal fault' and the plane was diverted to Chennai. The plane circled in the sky for two hours. During the first landing, a dangerous situation arose, but due to the pilot's prompt decision, everyone's lives were saved.

According to K. Radhakrishnan, the plane departed from Thiruvananthapuram at 8:20 PM and was diverted to Chennai about an hour later. The plane landed around 10:35 to 10:45. Another plane was made available for passengers. In recent weeks, some Air India planes have reported technical difficulties.
