(Cyclone Montha) Cyclone Montha has struck the coast of Andhra Pradesh. It is reported that the cyclone will pass between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kinada on the Andhra Pradesh coast in the next few hours, causing heavy rainfall in Odisha.
This is the Motha cyclone that has formed in the Bay of Bengal. Trees have been uprooted in coastal and southern districts. Life has been disrupted in 15 districts of southern Odisha. Significant damage to many houses is being observed.
Additionally, the maximum wind speed is expected to be 90 to 100 km per hour, according to the meteorological department. Incidents of landslides have occurred in many places due to heavy rainfall. In the wake of this cyclone, relief centers have been established, and NDRF teams are reported to be ready in the coastal areas.
