Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued firm instructions to ensure that the long-pending water supply scheme in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is fully implemented by the end of October. The directive was given during a high-level review meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai on Wednesday.

“All pending work must be completed without delay, and coordination among all involved agencies is crucial,” said CM Fadnavis. “We cannot be satisfied with percentage figures—only 100 percent completion will be considered successful. The jackwell work should be completed by October, and water pumping must commence. Additionally, the 26 MLD capacity phase of the water supply project should be completed by the end of June.”

He also instructed that pipeline technical adjustments be carried out after June 15, and that the remaining work be concluded by the end of August.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized accountability, stating, “If the contractor fails to complete the work on time, they will be blacklisted.” He further announced that a loan fund of ₹822 crore has been sanctioned for the Municipal Corporation to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder the project. “The state government will also bear the additional interest burden on this fund,” he added.

The review meeting was attended by Water Supply Minister Gulabrao Patil, Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat, Minister Atul Save, Additional Chief Secretary Asim Gupta, Water Supply Department Secretary Sanjay Khandare, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashwini Bhide, and key officials, along with representatives of the contractor company.

With this renewed push and financial backing, the state government aims to deliver a long-overdue lifeline to the residents of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar by ensuring timely completion of the vital water infrastructure project.
