Donald Trump on Putin: Trump's Ultimatum to Putin; “Make Ceasefire Decisions in the Next 10-12 Days, Otherwise...
Former US President Donald Trump has increased pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine. After a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump clearly warned journalists that Putin now has only 10 to 12 days left.
"I initially gave a 50-day period, but now I'm reducing the time. Because still nothing concrete has happened," Trump said. He further stated, "In my opinion, the answer is now clear. Considering the violence and chaos ongoing in Ukraine, we cannot wait any longer."
If the conflict does not cease within the given limited time, Trump has indicated that strict economic sanctions will be imposed on Russia and countries trading with Russia. There is a possibility of tariffs up to 100% on some imports, and this action will be part of "secondary sanctions."
Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Putin's policies, saying, “I am very disappointed to see the human toll caused by this prolonged war.” Meanwhile, Russia's foreign ministry has reacted strongly to Trump's ultimatum. "The language of threats and pressure is not acceptable to Moscow," they officially responded.
Previously, Trump had warned the BRICS countries that if they adopted economic or political policies against the United States, an additional 10% tariff would be imposed on their imports.
Against this backdrop, between July 30 and August 1, 2025, Putin will have to make concrete decisions towards calming the conflict. Otherwise, America is prepared to implement an aggressive strategy with new sanctions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has welcomed Trump's role, calling it a "timely and clear stance."
