Farmers in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Benefit from Timely Crop Loan Distribution
In a major step toward supporting farmers ahead of the Kharif season, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district administration, in collaboration with banks, has launched a special campaign titled ‘Apply, Get Loan’ to ensure timely disbursement of crop loans. The initiative, rolled out across 375 villages between July 3 and 10, has been met with a strong response from the farming community.
To review the progress of the campaign, District Collector Dilip Swamy visited the loan fair held at Chitte Pimpalgaon. During his visit, he interacted with farmers and directed banks to expedite the sanctioning of crop loans, emphasizing that timely financial support is crucial as the Kharif sowing season is already underway.
Rs 1,596 Crore Loan Target for the District
This year, the district has set a target of ₹1,596.63 crore for crop loan disbursement. So far, loans amounting to ₹730 crore have been distributed to 93,102 farmers. Notably, under this special campaign alone, ₹59.30 crore in loans have been sanctioned to 6,405 farmers.
According to Prasad Moghe, District Lead Bank Manager, crop loan renewals for 1,87,912 farmers in the district are still pending. In response, District Collector Swamy appealed to farmers to renew their old loans at the earliest to avoid financial difficulties during the ongoing season.
Loan Fair Receives Strong Participation
The loan fair at Chitte Pimpalgaon was attended by local sarpanches Pandurang Sonone (Chitte Pimpalgaon) and Sarla Gawande (Chittegaon), along with District Deputy Registrar Samrit Jadhav, Tehsildar Kailas Waghmare, bank officials, and a large number of farmers. On the occasion, crop loan sanction letters were distributed to eligible beneficiaries.
This campaign is being praised for offering farmers access to financial services within their villages, thereby eliminating the need for repeated visits to banks and helping reduce the risk of fraud or delays.
Focus on Last-Mile Disbursement
District Collector Swamy stated that the district administration, in coordination with banks, is committed to ensuring that remaining eligible farmers also receive their crop loans promptly. He reiterated the administration's objective of empowering farmers with financial strength to support their Kharif preparations.
This initiative is being seen as a proactive measure to strengthen agricultural productivity and rural credit accessibility in the region.
