Forest Sage and Literary Icon Padma Shri Awardee ‘Aranya Rishi’ Maruti Chitampalli Dies at 93
Padma Shri Maruti Chitampalli, widely revered as a nature lover, author, forest officer, and fondly remembered as the ‘Aranya Rishi’ (Forest Sage), passed away this morning due to age-related ailments. Just weeks ago, on April 30, 2025, Chitampalli was conferred with the Padma Shri by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. The Government of India honored him for his lifelong dedication to nature conservation and environmental literature.
