GST Collections Rise by 6.2% in June, Finance Ministry Reports
The Finance Ministry announced on Monday that Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for the month of June 2025 stood at ₹1,84,597 crore, marking a 6.2% increase compared to ₹1,73,813 crore collected in June 2024.
While the year-on-year growth is notable, the June collection is lower than May 2025's ₹2.01 lakh crore and the record high of ₹2.37 lakh crore collected in April 2025.
According to the ministry, revenue from domestic transactions (including services) rose by 4.6% year-on-year, totaling ₹1.38 lakh crore. Meanwhile, GST collections on imported goods increased by a sharper 11.4%, reaching ₹45,690 crore.
The detailed breakdown of the total GST collection for June 2025 is as follows:
Central GST (CGST): ₹34,558 crore
State GST (SGST): ₹43,268 crore
Integrated GST (IGST): ₹93,280 crore (including ₹42,054 crore collected on import of goods)
Compensation Cess: ₹13,491 crore (including ₹1,399 crore on imported goods)
Additionally, GST refunds issued during the month amounted to ₹25,491 crore, which is a 28.4% increase compared to June last year. After adjusting for refunds, the net GST revenue for June 2025 stands at approximately ₹1.59 lakh crore, reflecting a 3.3% rise over June 2024.
The steady increase in collections suggests sustained economic activity and improved compliance, though the decline from April and May collections indicates seasonal fluctuations. The ministry is expected to closely monitor trends in the coming months as part of its broader fiscal management strategy.
