A tragic incident occurred this morning when the Gambhira Bridge, connecting Anand and Vadodara districts in Gujarat, suddenly collapsed, sending multiple vehicles plunging into the river below. The collapse has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, while three others have been rescued, according to initial reports.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bridge broke into two parts without warning, leaving no time for vehicles on the bridge to react. Several vehicles were swept away by the strong river currents following the collapse.

The likely cause of the incident is believed to be continuous heavy rainfall in the region over the past several days, which may have weakened the structural integrity of the bridge. Gujarat has been witnessing widespread rainfall, raising concerns over the safety of several aging infrastructures.

Upon receiving information about the collapse, police teams and emergency rescue personnel rushed to the scene and began search-and-rescue operations. The local administration has also arrived on site and is coordinating ongoing relief efforts.

The bridge collapse has caused significant disruption to traffic on the Anand–Vadodara route. Authorities have diverted vehicles to alternate routes and advised commuters to avoid the area until further notice.
