Pune Heavy Rain: Relentless Rain in Pune Leads to Three Deaths
Heavy rainfall lashed Pune and several parts of Maharashtra starting Sunday night, May 25, and continued relentlessly through Monday, May 26. The intense downpour led to severe waterlogging, disruption of daily life, and tragically, the loss of three lives in Pune district. Multiple areas, including residential neighborhoods and railway stations, were inundated as the rain showed no signs of easing. Pune, among the worst affected, witnessed several incidents caused by the relentless weather.
In Karvenagar, a two-wheeler rider lost his life after a tree fell on him during the rainstorm. In Khed taluka, a young man who was fishing in the Bhama Askhed Dam area was struck by lightning and died on the spot. Additionally, a woman in Daund city also reportedly died due to rain-related circumstances, though further details are awaited.
These incidents have raised concerns about public safety as the monsoon intensifies. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid staying in vulnerable or low-lying areas and to take precautions during severe weather conditions. The Meteorological Department has forecast continued rainfall in the coming days, and disaster response teams are on alert across the district. Civic officials have also initiated cleanup and rescue efforts in the most affected zones.
