In Maharashtra 40,000 Recruited; CM Fadnavis Inaugurates New Police Facilities in Sangli

In a significant boost to the state’s law enforcement infrastructure, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that 40,000 new police personnel have been recruited through the Home Department. The move aims to create an ideal and efficient police administration with a police-to-population ratio that meets national standards.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the inauguration of three newly constructed buildings of the Sangli District Police Force, as well as the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a new residential complex for police personnel.

Strengthening Police Infrastructure

Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized the government's commitment to police modernization and welfare. “We have recruited 40,000 police personnel to strengthen the force across the state. Police housing and office infrastructure is being improved through the Police Housing Corporation, and currently, 94,000 residences are available for police personnel,” he said.

He also noted that Maharashtra leads the country in cybercrime investigation, with forensic vans now deployed in every district. He issued a stern warning: “If any police officer is found involved in drug-related offences, they will be dismissed immediately.”

The event was attended by several prominent leaders and officials including State Higher and Technical Education Minister and District Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil, MPs Dhananjay Mahadik and Vishal Patil, MLAs Arun Lad, Jayant Patil, Dr. Suresh Khade, Sudhir Gadgil, Dr. Vishwajit Kadam, and Gopichand Padalkar. Senior administrative and police officers such as Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Vikas Kharge, District Collector Ashok Kakade, Zilla Parishad CEO Trupti Dhodamise, Director General of Police Archana Tyagi, and Superintendent of Police Sandeep Ghuge were also present.

Inauguration of State-of-the-Art Police Buildings

CM Fadnavis inaugurated the new administrative office of the Superintendent of Police in Sangli, as well as the newly constructed police station buildings in Kadegaon and Atpadi. He also remotely laid the foundation stone for a new 224-flat residential building for police personnel.

The new four-storey administrative building, spanning 5,244 square meters, has been constructed at a cost of ₹14.34 crore. It includes modern office spaces, training halls, a crime investigation department, staff hostels, CCTV surveillance systems, solar energy facilities, disabled-friendly access, rainwater harvesting systems, and energy-efficient architectural design.

Investment in Cyber and Mobility Infrastructure

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also dedicated 16 police vehicles worth ₹2.13 crore, procured under the District Annual Plan, to public service. In addition, 150 computers, 150 scanners, and 40 multifunction printers were handed over to the Cyber Crime Department to enhance digital investigation capabilities.

Commitment to Law and Order

District Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil reiterated the government's full support to the police force in maintaining law and order, assuring continued funding and assistance for future needs.

Superintendent of Police Sandeep Ghuge, in his welcome address, expressed confidence that the upgraded infrastructure and resources will significantly enhance the operational efficiency of the district police force.
