After posting 471 runs in their first innings, courtesy of stellar centuries by captain Shubman Gill (147), Rishabh Pant (134), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (101), the Indian bowlers ensured a narrow lead by restricting England despite resilient performances from their middle and lower order.

England's innings was powered by a brilliant knock from Ollie Pope, who scored 106 runs. Harry Brook narrowly missed out on a century, falling on 99, while Ben Duckett contributed 62 runs at the top.
