Introduction of New Courses in 70 Government ITI Institutes in the State
Making significant improvements in the state's technical education and skill development sector, two new courses will be introduced in 70 government industrial training institutes (ITI) in Maharashtra. These include skill-based courses in Solar Technician (Electric) and Electric Vehicle Mechanic (EV Mechanic). This decision will help create trained manpower according to the changing industrial needs, informed Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.
The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training had recommended these courses to the Director General of Training of the Central Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department, which has been officially approved.
According to the state's eco-friendly policy, the demand for technical manpower skilled in the fields of solar energy and electric vehicles is increasing. Considering this, these courses are being started, which will provide new job opportunities for students.
Additionally, a high-level government industrial training institute will be established in Chembur for students from Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities. From 2025-26, courses such as Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician, Electrician, Wireman, Internet of Things (IoT) Technician – Smart City, and Electric Mechanic will be taught at this institute.
Through all these initiatives, a new chapter of skill development will begin in the state. Steps are being taken to make ITI institutes a brand of quality, and with the cooperation of private industries, the standard of ITI institutes in 36 districts of the state will be elevated.
According to the state government's perspective, courses with higher demand are being started, keeping in mind the needs of industrial establishments. This will make the youth employable and boost economic progress in the state, expressed Minister Lodha.
