Batting first, Punjab Kings posted a challenging total of 206 for 8 in their 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer led the scoring with a fluent 53 off 34 balls, supported by a late flourish from Marcus Stoinis, who smashed an unbeaten 44 off just 16 deliveries, including three fours and four sixes. Josh Inglis also contributed with a quickfire 32 off 12 balls, while Prabhsimran Singh added 28. Key partnerships included a 47-run stand between Inglis and Prabhsimran, and a 41-run alliance between Iyer and Nehal Wadhera.

In reply, Delhi got off to a solid start, with KL Rahul (35) and Faf du Plessis (23) putting on a 55-run opening stand.
