Iran Stipulates Guarantees from US and Israel for Diplomatic Talks

Iran has made it clear that future negotiations with the United States will be meaningless unless Washington and Tel Aviv provide “credible guarantees” to prevent further aggressive actions. In a candid email interview with ANI, Iran’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Iraj Elahi, outlined Tehran’s firm stance on the resumption of diplomatic talks.

"Regarding negotiations with the US—considering their diplomatic betrayal through illegal attacks on Iran and their complicity with the Zionist regime—any talks will have no meaning or value unless credible guarantees are provided by the US and Israel in future negotiations to prevent the repetition of such aggressive acts while the diplomatic process is still ongoing," said Elahi.

Referring to Recent Attacks

The ambassador’s remarks follow two major military operations launched last month, which Iran has called blatant violations of international law.

On June 13, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, conducting airstrikes deep into Iranian territory. The targets included sensitive nuclear sites at Natanz and Fordow, missile production facilities, and command bases of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to Iranian sources, several top IRGC commanders and nuclear scientists were killed.

Subsequently, between June 21 and 22, the United States launched Operation Midnight Hammer, which also targeted Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Iran condemned the strikes, calling them a direct breach of the UN Charter and a serious escalation in hostilities.

Nuclear Program Under IAEA Oversight

Ambassador Elahi defended Iran’s nuclear activities, asserting they remain peaceful and transparent under international supervision.

"The Israeli regime, which possesses nuclear weapons and is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), attacked our country under the pretext of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear arms. There is no evidence of such intentions, and our nuclear program is under strict inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," he added.

Diplomatic Deadlock Continues

The ambassador’s comments signal a diplomatic impasse, as both military tensions and mistrust between Iran and its Western counterparts deepen. While Iran says the door for diplomacy remains open, it insists that any pathway to talks must begin with firm security assurances and accountability for recent attacks.

As tensions in the region rise, all eyes remain on how the United States and its allies will respond to Tehran’s renewed demands—and whether the fragile prospects of a return to the negotiating table can be salvaged.
