Resuming on 186 overnight, Nair continued his fluent innings on the second day and reached the double-century mark with remarkable ease. His 204-run knock came off 273 deliveries and included 26 boundaries and a six, showcasing both patience and precision.

This innings marks the fourth time Nair has crossed the 200-run mark in a first-class innings. His career-best score remains the iconic 328 for Karnataka against Tamil Nadu during the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy season. On two of his previous three double-century innings, Nair remained unbeaten.

Second Double Century on English Soil

This latest feat is also his second double century in England. In 2024, Nair scored an unbeaten 202 for Northamptonshire against Glamorgan in the County Championship. His continued success in English conditions further strengthens his credentials as a dependable long-format batsman.

A Look at His Red-Ball Legacy

Karun Nair became a household name after scoring a historic triple century—303 not out—against England in a Test match in 2016, making him only the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to achieve the milestone in Test cricket. He also delivered a memorable knock of 114* for India A against South Africa A in 2015.

With this double ton, Nair has once again reminded selectors and fans of his ability to play long innings and anchor the batting order—an asset that could be crucial for India’s future red-ball campaigns.
