Maharashtra Home Department Initiates Major Police Reshuffle : 132 Officers Transferred

51 IPS and 81 State Police Service officers transferred; Key changes in major cities including Mumbai and Pune

In a significant administrative move, the Maharashtra Home Department has transferred a total of 132 police officers across the state, aiming to enhance efficiency and strengthen crime control mechanisms.

The transfer list includes 51 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and 81 State Police Service officers. Officials stated that the reshuffle is intended to optimize law enforcement operations and improve policing across urban and rural regions.

Senior officers from key cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have been assigned new postings as part of the reshuffle.

Among the major transfers:

  • Tejaswi Satpute, Superintendent of Police, Arms Inspection Branch, Pune, has been appointed as Commander, SRPF Group 1, Pune.

  • Mahendra Pandit, currently Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Thane, will now serve in Mumbai.

  • Amol Zende, DCP of the Traffic Department in Pune, has been transferred as Commander, SRPF Group, Daund.

  • DCP Smartana Patil has been posted to the Khandala Police Training Centre.

In another notable change, Kolhapur SP Tushar Patil has been appointed as DCP in Mumbai. Additionally, officers Vijay Pawar, Sunil Lokhande, Namrata Patil, and Smita Patil have also been assigned to the Mumbai Police Force as DCPs. With these appointments, a total of five IPS officers have been inducted or promoted within the Mumbai Police setup.

This reshuffle reflects the state government's broader strategy to revamp administrative efficiency and reinforce policing standards in high-pressure zones. Further changes and assessments are expected as the state prepares to tackle evolving law and order challenges.
