Maharashtra on Alert, CM and DCM Review State Security in High-Level Meeting
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary (In-Charge), Director General of Police, Mumbai Police Commissioner, Mumbai Municipal Commissioner, Additional Director General of Police (Civil Defence), and senior officials from the health, disaster management, and other key departments.
Key Directives from the Chief Minister
During the briefing, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized the protection of lives and property in the event of a disaster or war-like situation and issued the following instructions:
Mock drills and the establishment of ‘war rooms’ in every district.
Ensure hospital services remain functional during blackouts; implement measures to block all external light through curtains or glass barriers.
Launch public awareness campaigns through videos and digital information drives.
Review and study the Union War Book; ensure training of officers for wartime protocols.
Enhance cyber cell monitoring of social media; strict action against anti-national content.
Immediate allocation of emergency funds to all District Collectors.
Engage municipal bodies and housing societies, especially in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), for blackout preparedness.
Intensify police patrolling and combing operations across the state.
Prohibit and penalize the filming of military activities; enforce legal action where necessary.
Deploy fishing trawlers for maritime surveillance and coastal security.
Ensure the government provides accurate, official, and timely updates to prevent misinformation.
Conduct cyber audits of critical infrastructure and services to prevent digital threats.
Maintain coordination with the Armed Forces and Coast Guard via regular video conferencing.
Cancel all leaves of senior officials in the health and disaster management departments until further notice.
Appeal for Calm
The Chief Minister urged citizens to remain alert but not panic, assuring the public that robust security measures have been activated statewide.
“We are fully prepared to safeguard Maharashtra. All departments are working in close coordination with central agencies to ensure the safety of every citizen,” said CM Fadnavis.
The state government reiterated its commitment to proactive security, continuous monitoring, and swift response mechanisms in coordination with national agencies.
