Maharashtra has established its dominance in digital payments, securing the first position with double the figures compared to other states. There has been unprecedented growth in UPI transactions, which lead the digital payment revolution, in 2025. Compared to last year, this growth has increased by a remarkable 23 percent. According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), 18.68 billion transactions were made through UPI in the months of May-June, with a total value exceeding 25 lakh crore. Due to UPI, India's economic system is rapidly becoming cashless and digital. India is at the forefront of global leadership in UPI. Almost 90 percent of transactions in the country are conducted using UPI. According to the recently released statistics by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Maharashtra ranks first. Maharashtra has secured the first position with a score of 13.19 points, while Karnataka is second with 7.77 points, and Uttar Pradesh is third with 7.50 points.

Regarding this, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis posted information on social media thanking India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
