A special event titled 'Celebrity Yoga' was organized today at the Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Filmcity), Goregaon, to mark International Yoga Day and promote awareness about the ancient Indian science of yoga.

Yoga, often described as a holistic path to wellness rather than just a physical exercise, was celebrated in a grand and spirited manner at the event. The initiative aimed to highlight yoga as a timeless gift of Indian culture that fosters physical health, mental peace, and emotional balance.

The event was held in the esteemed presence of Maharashtra's Minister for Cultural Affairs, Adv. Ashish Shelar, who emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily life. “Yoga is the legacy of India’s sage tradition. Rather than relying on medicine alone, we should adopt a healthy lifestyle through yoga. Artists reflect society, and it is their responsibility to spread the message of yoga among the masses,” said Shelar during his address.

Joining the minister were several dignitaries from the Maharashtra Film, Stage & Cultural Development Corporation, including Swati Mhase-Patil, Managing Director; Prashant Sajanikar, Joint Managing Director; Chitralekha Khatu Raorane, Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer; and Santosh Khamkar, Manager (Kalagare), along with other senior officials and staff.

The festival began with a collective yoga session where participating celebrities and attendees performed various yoga asanas. They also took a pledge to continue practicing yoga regularly to maintain physical fitness, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.

Speaking at the event, Swati Mhase-Patil underlined yoga's broader role beyond exercise, stating, “Yoga is a way of life. In today’s stressful environment, yoga helps us reclaim our lost mental peace and balance.”

The event saw enthusiastic participation from prominent figures of the Marathi film and television industry, including Sushant Shelar, Megha Dhade, Abhijit Kelkar, Avinash Narkar, Nandini Vaidya, Niyati Rajwade, Sumiran Modak, Bhargavi Chirmule, Anagha Bhagre, Milind Gawli, Titiksha Tawde, Sharvani Pillay, Rohini Ninave, Geetanjali Thackeray, Kalpana Jagtap, and Manasi Ingle.

The event concluded with a collective message: Yoga is not just a practice—it is a commitment to a healthier, more mindful life.
