In a shocking case of medical negligence, a 65-year-old man was wrongly declared dead by a doctor in Ulhasnagar, sparking outrage among the patient's family and local residents. The incident occurred at Shivneri Hospital, where the attending doctor examined the patient inside a rickshaw and issued a death certificate — even though the man was very much alive.

The victim, Abhiman Tayde, had been suffering from health issues and had previously undergone treatment in Mumbai. On Thursday, he suddenly collapsed at home, prompting his son to rush him to Shivneri Hospital in an auto-rickshaw. Upon arrival, Dr. Prabhu Ahuja, the attending physician, allegedly refused to move the patient inside the hospital and examined him while he was still in the rickshaw.

Based on this brief and superficial check, Dr. Ahuja pronounced Tayde dead and issued a death certificate without further medical assessment. The family, devastated by the news, took Tayde home and began preparations for his funeral.

However, during the arrangements, relatives noticed subtle signs of life — his heart was still beating. Reacting swiftly, they rushed him to a private hospital, where doctors confirmed he was alive and immediately began treatment. Tayde has since regained consciousness and is now in a stable condition, reportedly suffering from jaundice. However, due to this matter, a case is likely to be registered against Dr. Ahuja of Shivneri Hospital. Meanwhile, Dr. Ahuja has admitted his mistake and said that the mistake was due to the surrounding noise and the patient's vein not being found. In this regard, Abhinav Tayde has been found to have jaundice and his condition is now stable.

Public Outrage and Doctor's Admission

The incident has triggered public anger and renewed concerns over negligent medical practices. Tayde’s family has demanded action against the hospital and Dr. Ahuja, who has since admitted his error, citing background noise and difficulty in locating a vein during the roadside examination as contributing factors to the misjudgment.

A police case is likely to be filed against Dr. Ahuja, and health authorities are reportedly reviewing the hospital’s protocols. The gross negligence has raised serious questions about emergency medical response and ethical standards, especially in cases where timely and proper evaluation can mean the difference between life and death.

The matter continues to generate widespread reaction across the city, with calls for stricter regulation and accountability in private healthcare facilities.
