According to sources, the ED conducted raids on Friday at 15 to 16 locations across Mumbai and Kerala, intensifying its probe into the alleged financial irregularities. The crackdown comes ahead of the crucial Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, raising political tensions and speculation.

As per ED officials, actor Dino Morea’s financial dealings with accused businessman Ketan Kadam between 2019 and 2022 are under scrutiny. Following the raids, the agency seized large volumes of cash, multiple bank accounts, demat accounts, and digital devices. Morea has been directed to appear before the agency for questioning next week.

This high-profile case had earlier been registered at the Azad Maidan Police Station, naming three municipal officers, five contractors, three middlemen, and two private companies. Authorities allege that the fraudulent scheme resulted in a loss of Rs 65.54 crore to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Previously, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had questioned Dino Morea and his brother for nearly eight hours in relation to the case.

With the ED stepping in, the investigation appears to be gaining momentum. Morea, along with five others, will now face questioning by the federal agency, marking a new phase in the probe.

Adding to the intrigue, Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane had recently remarked that “something big will happen before the elections,” prompting speculation that the ED’s action might be politically timed.

As the investigation deepens, all eyes are now on how far the probe will reach and which other prominent figures may find themselves under the enforcement lens.
