MNS and Shiv Sena Unite for Victory Rally Against Hindi Mandate
Marking a rare moment of political unity, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Thackeray-led Shiv Sena have announced a joint "Victory Rally" to celebrate their recent success in pressuring the government to withdraw the controversial Government Resolution (GR) mandating the use of Hindi.
The rally, scheduled for Saturday, July 5 at 11 AM, will be held at the N.S.C.I Dome in Worli, Mumbai. An invitation card titled “Voice of Thackeray” has been shared on social media platforms by both parties, creating a buzz in political circles and among supporters.
The rally comes in the aftermath of widespread protests across the state over the alleged imposition of Hindi, which had sparked unrest. The opposition to the language compulsion, spearheaded jointly by MNS and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), ultimately led to the government rolling back the GR.
On July 2, senior leaders from both parties visited and inspected the Worli venue, after which the location was officially finalized for the event. The rally is expected to witness both Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray sharing the same stage, symbolizing a potential thaw in relations between the estranged Thackeray cousins.
With tensions easing and the government's climbdown on the language issue, this rally aims to project a show of strength and unity by the two regional parties. Political observers are watching closely, as this could mark a significant shift in Maharashtra’s political dynamics ahead of the upcoming elections.
