Now Color Photos to Be Displayed on EVMs; Major Decision by Central Election Commission
In Brief
Color photographs to be visible on EVM machines
Major decision by the Central Election Commission
Font size set to 30 to ensure candidate names, numbers, and symbols are clearly visible
( EVM ) Before the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the Election Commission has announced significant changes. Accordingly, candidates' photos on the EVM will now be printed in color. Previously, these photos were in black and white. This change has been made to ensure that voters can identify candidates more clearly. According to the commission's rules, 75 percent of the space in the photograph will be allocated to the candidate's face.
The commission has set specific standards for the quality of ballot papers used for EVMs. These ballot papers will be printed on special pink paper of 70 GSM. To ensure that the candidate's name, number, and symbol are clearly visible, the font size has been set to 30 and will be bold. This will make the voting process easier for voters.
The commission has clarified that most voters will not be required to present separate documents for voting. Nearly 60 percent of voters included in the special in-depth revision process of 2003 in Bihar will not have to provide documents to prove their date of birth or place of birth. This will provide additional convenience to the voters.
These new changes have been implemented by the commission to increase transparency and credibility in the election process. Starting with the Bihar Assembly elections, these experiments are prepared to be implemented across the country in the future. The commission has expressed confidence that this will further elevate the standard of the Indian election system.
