'Operation Sindoor' is merely a political stunt; Rahul Gandhi's severe criticism of the ruling party
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during his speech in Parliament, strongly criticized Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's statements and raised serious questions about the role taken by the central government during 'Operation Sindoor'. He directly targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, saying, "This wasn't a battle because there was no will to fight," attacking the government.
Rahul Gandhi said that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh himself stated in the House that 'Operation Sindoor' started at 1:05 and just 22 minutes later, at 1:35, India contacted Pakistan to say, "We have only attacked non-military targets and we do not want to escalate the conflict."
Rahul Gandhi said, "In a fight between two people, one slaps the other and immediately says that they won't slap again, which is ridiculous. We had already told Pakistan that we don't want a conflict. This means we showed them our political weakness."
He further stated that in 1971, when India achieved a decisive victory in the Bangladesh war, Indira Gandhi had a clear political will. She gave General Manekshaw the freedom to choose the time for the operation. Despite the threat from the US Seventh Fleet at the time, India did not back down from its strategy.
"But today's situation is different," Rahul Gandhi said, explaining that during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force was given clear orders not to attack Pakistani military installations or their air defense systems. This led to our pilots entering Pakistani territory without protection, and their planes were shot down.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that this strategy was not a mistake of the Indian Air Force, but a political mistake by the central government. "We sent our pilots into battle with their hands tied behind their backs. And told the enemy in advance that we would not touch your military bases," he asserted.
He further said, "In today's times, if there is air defense in a region and we send aircraft there, those planes will be shot down. This was not a strategic mistake, but a political mistake."
Rahul Gandhi also mentioned Defense Chief General Anil Chauhan at this time. "He said that we identified the mistakes and corrected them within the next two days and launched a new mission. But I want to tell him that it was not the mistake of the Indian Air Force. The mistake was of the political leadership," Gandhi said.
At the end of his speech, Rahul Gandhi challenged the government to clearly state whether 'Operation Sindoor' was a real action or just a political stunt. "If you are already telling the enemy that we don't want a fight and won't attack military bases, why would they be afraid the second time?" he asked the central government pointedly.
Rahul Gandhi's aggressive speech has heated up the atmosphere in Parliament, and the ruling party has not yet given any official response. However, the way information about 'Operation Sindoor' has been revealed has raised questions about this mission and the government's military policy.
