(Cough Syrup) Deaths of children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan occurred due to cough medicine produced by a company in Tamil Nadu. Adulteration was found in samples of cough medicine from a company in Tamil Nadu, and a ban has been imposed on this medicine.
Sales of this have been banned in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. This incident has caused a major stir in the state. Many children have died in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan due to the consumption of cough syrup manufactured by Shreeson Pharmaceuticals, and significant action has been taken in this matter. Against this backdrop, the owner of the company manufacturing this cough syrup, Shreeson Pharmaceuticals, has now been arrested.
In this case, a case has been filed against the director of the pharmaceutical company Shreeson Pharma, pediatrician Dr. Praveen Soni, and other responsible persons under sections 105, 276 of the BNS and section 27A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. The owner of the company, Ranganathan Govindan, was arrested from their apartment in Kodambakkam, Chennai, and this action was taken by a seven-member team from Madhya Pradesh. A reward of 20,000 rupees was also announced by the police to find Ranganathan. It is reported that important documents and drug samples have also been seized from the company.
