'Pakistan started lying as soon as it was born' : Foreign secretary Vikram Misri

In the wake of the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed a press conference on Friday evening, vehemently denying Pakistan’s claims and accusing the neighboring country of spreading misinformation about India’s military operations.

The high-level joint press briefing, held alongside Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sophia Qureshi, aimed to clarify India's position on the ongoing strikes and expose what Indian authorities are calling "Pakistan’s propaganda".

"Pakistan Attacked a Gurudwara, Not Us" – Misri

Responding to Pakistan’s allegations that India targeted civilian areas, Foreign Secretary Misri was unequivocal:

“Pakistan is lying, as usual. They launched a direct attack on a Gurudwara—clearly a civilian and religious site. In contrast, all of India’s retaliatory strikes have been aimed solely at verified terrorist infrastructure and military targets. We have not attacked any civilian locations,” Misri asserted.

He also confirmed that over 100 Indian civilians were killed in Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes, adding that India has given a befitting response.

Counter-Attacks and Military Precision

Colonel Sophia Qureshi provided a detailed timeline of the Indian Armed Forces' strategic retaliatory strikes, while Wing Commander Vyomika Singh described the precision of air missions and reiterated that India is acting strictly within international rules of engagement.

“Our air strikes are based on credible intelligence and are carried out with surgical precision. Civilian life and property are not targeted by Indian forces,” Singh said.

India’s Diplomatic Stand

India has continued to present its case on global platforms, emphasizing its commitment to national security, territorial integrity, and responsible military conduct. The Ministry of External Affairs has also reportedly engaged with foreign missions to communicate India’s stance and disprove Pakistan’s narrative.

“We urge international partners to examine verified satellite data, combat logs, and intelligence shared through diplomatic channels,” Misri added.

Public and Global Reaction

The Indian government has appealed to its citizens to remain calm and trust official sources of information. Meanwhile, global powers are closely monitoring the developments, with calls for de-escalation and restraint being issued by the United Nations, United States, and European Union.
