Prakash Raj Slams Pawan Kalyan Over Hindi Language Advocacy
The Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and actor Pawan Kalyan has sparked a new controversy by urging the citizens of South India to learn the Hindi language. After expressing the opinion that Hindi is a language that unites the country and poses no threat to any regional language, actor Prakash Raj has criticized him.
Pawan Kalyan was speaking at the 'Dakshin Samvad' golden jubilee event of the Rajbhasha department in Hyderabad. “If Telugu is my mother, then Hindi is my elder mother. This language is economically beneficial and connects the entire country,” he said. He also highlighted the growing opportunities in the Hindi film industry, the dubbing of regional films into Hindi, and the earnings from it.
However, Prakash Raj has expressed strong anger over this statement. Sharing a video on social media, he addressed Pawan Kalyan and wrote, “Just asking, how much did you sell yourself for? This is a shameful thing.”
Prakash Raj had previously criticized Pawan Kalyan regarding the promotion of the Hindi language. In May 2025, when leaders in Tamil Nadu opposed Hindi, Pawan Kalyan questioned their stance. At that time, Prakash Raj also clearly expressed his opinion against the imposition of the language.
While there is general discontent against the imposition of Hindi in various states of South India, Pawan Kalyan's statement and the controversy arising from it once again bring the issue of linguistic sensitivity to the forefront. Many regional leaders consistently argue that whether to learn Hindi or not is a matter of personal and cultural pride.
