Pune Zilla Parishad Issues Notice to Municipal Corporation, Demands ₹136 Crore

After the transfer of properties in villages included in the municipal limits, the Pune Zilla Parishad has demanded Rs 136 crore from the municipal corporation. The proposal includes schools, gram panchayat buildings, primary health centers, clinics, open spaces, cemeteries, community centers and other infrastructure owned by the Zilla Parishad.

A total of 34 villages were included in the boundaries of Pune Municipal Corporation in two phases in 2017 and 2021. Out of these, two villages, Uruli Devachi and Fursungi, have been excluded again. Government and public utility buildings in the included villages have been handed over to the Municipal Corporation. The total capital value of these properties is about Rs 136 crore 7 lakh, for which an official demand letter has been sent to the Municipal Corporation by the Pune Zilla Parishad.

Meanwhile, the Pune Municipal Corporation has not yet announced any position on this demand. Officials in the municipal corporation said that a policy decision is likely to be taken at the state government level in this regard and a final decision is awaited.
