A devastating explosion late last night at a firecracker factory in Muktsar Sahib has claimed the lives of five workers and left 27 others injured, according to preliminary reports from local authorities.

The blast occurred suddenly, following a fire outbreak in the factory premises. Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic and chaos as flames quickly engulfed the building. Within moments, a major explosion rocked the area, destroying significant parts of the structure.

The injured have been admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Bathinda, where several are reported to be in critical condition. Rescue teams, along with police and fire brigade units, rushed to the site immediately upon receiving information about the incident. Their swift response helped contain the fire and begin search-and-rescue operations.

Authorities have confirmed that two floors of the factory have been completely damaged due to the force of the explosion. The exact cause of the fire and explosion is yet to be determined, and an investigation is currently underway.

District officials are overseeing the relief operations, and efforts are being made to identify the deceased and notify their families. The incident has once again raised serious questions about safety protocols in firecracker manufacturing units, which have witnessed similar tragedies in the past.
