Raj Thackeray Criticizes Fadnavis at Worli Rally: A Call for Marathi Unity

Thackeray Cousins Unite to Challenge State Government Policies

In a fiery and emotionally charged speech at the 'Awaaz Marathi' victory rally held at the Dome Auditorium in Worli, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray took a pointed dig at Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, stating, “What Balasaheb could not do, Fadnavis has done.” The remark, delivered in a tone of both sarcasm and disappointment, underscored Thackeray’s criticism of the state government’s controversial stance on the imposition of Hindi in Maharashtra.

"This is a Rally of the Marathi People, Not of Any Party"

Addressing a massive crowd, Raj Thackeray began by clarifying that the event was not a political rally but a gathering of Marathi people united in pride and protest.

“This is not a rally of any party. It is a rally of the Marathi identity,” he said.

Thackeray expressed regret that the event couldn’t take place at Shivtirtha (Shivaji Park) due to heavy rains.

“This should have been a massive march, showcasing the unity of Marathi people. The government backtracked simply after hearing talks of the rally,” he remarked, hinting at the pressure the protest had created.

He also offered an apology to those gathered outside the venue, saying,

“I know many are standing outside in the rain. I sincerely apologize. Your support means everything.”

“After 20 Years, Uddhav and I Are on the Same Platform”

Referring to the momentous reunion with Uddhav Thackeray after nearly two decades of political estrangement, Raj stated:

“In my interview, I had said Maharashtra is bigger than any personal dispute or controversy. After 20 years, Uddhav and I are on the same stage. That itself speaks volumes.”

Attack on Hindi Imposition and Fadnavis Government

Shifting to the core issue, Thackeray lashed out at the state’s trilingual education policy and the perceived imposition of Hindi on Marathi-speaking students.

“Why is Hindi being forced on our children? For whom? What’s the agenda behind this?” he questioned.

Delivering one of the sharpest lines of the day, he said:

“You have power in the Vidhan Bhavan, but we have the power of the streets.”

The comment drew loud applause from the crowd, underscoring the mounting dissatisfaction among regional language advocates.

In conclusion, Raj Thackeray emphasized that the movement was not just political, but a cultural and emotional awakening for Marathi people.

“Let’s not lose focus by getting sidetracked with controversies. Let’s stand united for the language, for the culture, and for the identity of Maharashtra.”

With the stage shared by both Thackeray cousins, the rally marked a defining moment in Maharashtra politics, sending a strong message to the ruling coalition ahead of upcoming political battles.
