Ration Cardholders Face Permanent Benefit Loss for Six Months of Inactivity

The benefits for families of ration card holders who do not take grains from the ration shop for six consecutive months will now be permanently suspended.

The benefit for ration cardholder families who have not taken grains from the ration shop for six consecutive months will now be permanently stopped. Every six months, the Food and Civil Supplies Department sends a list of such ration cardholders to the District Supply Officer and Food Grain Distribution Officer.

In Solapur city, three and a half thousand ration cardholders had not taken grains for six consecutive months. Their list was sent to the Food Grain Distribution Officer six months ago. Accordingly, those ration cards are considered 'silent' and verification of those ration cardholders has been carried out. Consequently, their grain benefit has been stopped. Additionally, a list of another 1600 ration cardholders has been sent by the government, and their benefit has also been stopped. Such ration cardholders are classified under the 'NPS' (Non-Priority Household Beneficiary) scheme.

On the other hand, the benefit for approximately nine to ten thousand ration cardholders in the rural areas of the district has been stopped according to these criteria. The rule is that those who have not taken grains for six consecutive months are considered not in need of grains from the ration shop, and their right to grains is subsequently stopped.
