(Cough Syrup) There is suspicion that the deaths of children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were caused by a cough medicine produced by a company in Tamil Nadu. Adulteration has been found in the samples of cough medicine from a company in Tamil Nadu, and it is reported that a ban has been imposed on this medicine.

The Tamil Nadu government has banned the sale of 'ColdRif' cough syrup from October 1 and a state-level committee has been formed to investigate it. A senior official from the Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department provided this information on Saturday.

It is reported that the sale of cough syrup has been banned across the state after the suspicious death of 9 children due to kidney failure in Chhindwara district since September 7. The official stated that samples of the company's medicine have been inspected by the officers of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, and adulteration was found in a sample of the cough syrup. The company has been ordered to stop the production of the cough syrup and an explanation has been sought.
