Shailesh Jejurikar becomes CEO of P&G
India's son Shailesh Jejurikar has been appointed as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the world-renowned FMCG company Procter & Gamble (P&G). From January 1, 2026, he will replace the current interim CEO, Jon Moeller. Jejurikar, who has been managing the company's global operations as COO for the past 6 years, will now have the full responsibility of the company under his leadership.
58-year-old Shailesh Jejurikar started working at P&G in 1989 as an Assistant Brand Manager. Over three decades, he has established a strong position in the company by working in various departments. His leadership has been decisive in important departments like Fabric Care, Home Care, Global Business Services, Supply Chain, and IT.
Shailesh Jejurikar was educated at Mumbai University and IIM Lucknow. Currently, he resides in the United States with his wife Sankhya Jejurikar (a visual artist) and two children. His family's professional background is also noteworthy. His elder brother Rajesh Jejurikar is the Executive Director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sector) of Mahindra & Mahindra Company.
This is only the second time in P&G's 183-year history that the company has appointed a CEO from outside the United States. Dirk Jager from the Netherlands was the first such CEO in 1998. Therefore, this selection is proving to be historic.
The number of leaders of Indian origin in leading companies worldwide is increasing. Names like Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Sundar Pichai of Google, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, and Arvind Krishna of IBM now include Shailesh Jejurikar.
On this appointment, Mahindra's Chairman Anand Mahindra expressed special joy on Twitter, saying, “This appointment is special for us too as Shailesh is the brother of our Executive Director Rajesh.” Shailesh Jejurikar's rise is proving to be inspirational for Indian youth.
