Sharad Pawar’s Reaction After Ceasefire Announcement
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Pawar defended India’s recent counterterrorism operation — codenamed Operation Sindoor — and clarified that it was a targeted action against terrorist infrastructure, not an attack on Pakistani military or civilian areas.
“India has never supported terrorism. Through Operation Sindoor, India carried out strong and precise strikes on terrorist camps. The goal was never to target Pakistani military bases or civilians. This operation was both necessary and essential for the nation’s security,” Pawar said.
He further asserted that India has shown maturity and restraint in its response to repeated provocations from Pakistan.
“It is India’s responsibility to respond calmly and decisively to constant provocations from Pakistan. India has fulfilled this duty with an awareness of global peace. We have always stood for peace and dialogue, and any steps in that direction are welcome.”
Highlighting the broader implications of counterterrorism efforts, Pawar added:
“Taking firm action against terrorism is not solely India's responsibility — it is a collective obligation of the international community. Every step taken in the direction of peace strengthens our global fight against terrorism.”
Pawar’s remarks come at a time when diplomatic channels are reactivating and efforts are underway to stabilize the region following a tense three-day standoff.
