Suresh Dhas Serious Allegations Against Jalindar Supekar

BJP MLA Suresh Dhas has sparked controversy by making serious allegations against senior police officer Jalindar Supekar in connection with the Vaishnavi Hagavane suicide case in Mulshi. Dhas claimed that Supekar demanded a staggering Rs 300 crore from inmates while serving in the jail administration.

Addressing the media, Dhas said, “It has come to my attention through complaints that Supekar demanded Rs 300 crore from prisoners in jail. An officer of IG rank accepting such large sums of cash and expensive mobile phones is deeply unfortunate. I have received multiple complaints about his conduct. Where is the morality in all of this?”

Jalindar Supekar had previously faced accusations of intervening in the Vaishnavi Hagavane case, allegedly facilitating the issuance of arms licenses to protect the Hagavane family. Following these charges, he was removed from his post and transferred to the position of Deputy Director General (Home Guard).

Dhas also alleged that the Hagavane family, reportedly worth Rs 150 crore, received undue protection. “Such individuals, with tainted backgrounds, should not be allowed to reintegrate into society after serving time,” he added.

Supekar has not responded to the allegations so far.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is said to have taken serious note of the claims and has initiated an investigation. Activist Anjali Damania stated that out of 600 cases under review, reports have been compiled for 300, and the remaining are under investigation. Observers believe the probe could lead to the exposure of large-scale corruption within the prison system.

The developments have intensified scrutiny on Maharashtra's prison administration and raised questions about the influence and conduct of senior officials in high-profile cases.
