'Tears for Batla House Terrorists, Not for Martyr Soldiers?'; Amit Shah's Fierce Attack on Congress
Union Home Minister Amit Shah today, July 29, provided detailed information in the Lok Sabha's monsoon session about the elimination of terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attacks. After Operation Sindoor, under Operation Mahadev Mission, the Indian Army avenged the Pahalgam terrorist attack by killing the accused. On this occasion, Amit Shah strongly criticized the opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi while speaking in Parliament.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly criticized Congress in the Lok Sabha, referencing the Batla House encounter and questioning the anti-terrorism policies during the UPA government's tenure. He also targeted the roles of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
Direct Response on Pahalgam Attack
While speaking in the Lok Sabha, Shah said, “Yesterday, some opposition members were asking where the Pahalgam attackers went? I clearly state, our army has struck them. The terrorists who were hiding during your time are now being located and action is being taken against them.”
Mention of Batla House Encounter
In this context, Shah raised the issue of the 2008 Batla House encounter, making emotional and political allegations against Congress. He stated, “One morning while I was having breakfast, I saw Salman Khurshid crying. I asked what happened? He said Sonia Gandhi cried after seeing the photos of the Batla House terrorists. If tears were to be shed for anyone, they should have been for police officer Mohan Sharma, who was martyred in that encounter.”
Shah claimed that Salman Khurshid publicly mentioned this during the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election campaign. “That speech is still saved on my mobile,” Shah added.
Batla House Incident, What Exactly Happened?
September 13, 2008: Around 30 people died in five serial blasts in Delhi.
Responsibility: The Indian Mujahideen organization claimed responsibility for the blasts.
September 19, 2008: Delhi Police raided a flat in Batla House.
In the encounter, two terrorists Atif Amin and Mohammad Sajid were killed, while police officer Mohan Sharma was martyred.
Direct Challenge to Rahul Gandhi
Amit Shah directly challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asking what exact action was taken against terrorists during the UPA era?
“Our army has killed the accused in the Baisaran Valley. So now I don't need to say anything. I ask Rahul Gandhi, what was your government doing after the blasts and attacks that occurred between 2004 and 2014?” Shah said.
BJP's Claim with Statistics -
UPA Government (2004–2014):
Terrorist incidents – 7217
Civilian deaths – 1770
BJP Government (2014–2024):
Reduction in incidents – 70 percent
Reduction in civilian deaths – 80 percent (only 357 deaths)
In his speech, Shah reiterated Congress's “soft” policies and strongly promoted BJP's tough stance, heating up the political atmosphere by challenging Rahul Gandhi to respond directly.
