Trump Blames Hamas for Gaza Ceasefire Collapse, Calls for Israeli Action
US President Donald Trump blamed the Palestinian militant group Hamas for breaking the Gaza ceasefire. He said on Friday, "They were very bad. Hamas really did not want to make a deal. I think they (Hamas) want to die and that's very bad." In a statement before heading to Scotland for the weekend, Trump said, "They need to reach a point where you have to get the job done. They have to fight and they have to clean it up. You have to get rid of it."
The American President argued that the Palestinian terrorist group is not ready to hand over the remaining prisoners in Gaza because "they know what happens after the final hostage is received, and, basically, because of this, they really didn't want to make a deal. So, they withdrew (from the negotiations)," Trump said. After expressing concerns that Hamas is not "coordinated" or acting "in good faith," Trump's statement came following indirect discussions between American and Israeli negotiators with Hamas in Qatar.
