Vaishnavi Hagavane Case : Father-in-Law and Brother-in-Law Arrested
Vaishnavi, a resident of Mulshi in Pune district, died by suicide under alleged pressure related to dowry. Her tragic death sparked outrage and condemnation from various quarters, with demands for strict action against those responsible.
Earlier, police had already taken her husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law into custody in connection with the case. After an extensive search, Rajendra and Sushil Hagavane were finally traced and arrested by the Bavdhan police at approximately 4:30 AM.
Sources reveal that the two were hiding in a village within Pune district. CCTV footage, reportedly from a hotel, surfaced before their arrest and is currently being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case has drawn widespread attention across the state, reigniting discussions around dowry harassment and the need for stronger enforcement of women’s protection laws.
