In a major development in the Vaishnavi Hagwane case, two key accused—Rajendra Hagwane, father-in-law of the deceased, and Sushil Hagwane, her brother-in-law—have been arrested after being on the run for seven days. The duo was apprehended by the Pune Police early Friday morning.

According to officials, the Bavdhan Police conducted the arrest operation at around 4:30 a.m., following leads that indicated both men were hiding in a village in Pune district. The arrest comes after earlier detentions of Vaishnavi’s husband, mother-in-law, and another brother-in-law, who were taken into custody shortly after the case surfaced. However, Rajendra and Sushil had been evading the authorities until now.

In connection with the arrest, CCTV footage has emerged showing Rajendra and Sushil at a hotel in Talegaon prior to their capture. The footage allegedly shows them bragging about eating mutton, which has further stirred public outrage over the apparent nonchalance displayed while evading arrest.

The police are continuing their investigation into the case, which has garnered widespread attention and sparked debate about domestic violence and women’s safety. Authorities have not yet released official statements regarding the contents of the CCTV footage or the specific charges that will be pressed following the latest arrests.
